Essay:
Five years ago I had a friend who had lost her job. She was upset because she really loved her job. She had decided to move from Florida to Massachussetts and start all over with her child and boyfriend. Her boyfriend was killed in a car crash two days before the move took place. She was without a job, no money, no place to live and mourning the lose of the man she had been madly in love with. To her life seemed hopeless. The only reason she had to go on was for her son. I listened to her pain and it really made me sad. I was very worried about the future of my friend and her son. I told my friend that she and her son could come and stay at my house in the spare bedroom until she was able get a job and save money for a place of her own. For the sake of her child, she agreed to come stay with me. I helped her find a job where I was working. In time she was able to save up and get her own place. She was able to take care of her child on her own. The financial part of her life was improving, but her heart was still broken. I suggested that she look toward God and the church for comfort. She spoke to a priest and found some comfort in his words to her. She continued to go to church and her pain began to lessen. Today she is married and going to college. Her heart has healed and her life is going in a postive direction. She still sends me Christmas cards every year. She always thanks me for the kindness that I showed her at the lowest point in her life. When I am experiencing bad moments in my life, I think of my friend. I think of the hard time she went through and she was strong enough to take help handed to her and not give up on herself and life. It makes me realize that no matter how bad things get, as long as you don't give up you can achieve anything.

Summary:
When you help someone in their time of need and they succeed, you help them and yourself.
