GMAT Preparation GMAT Test Taking Practice & Strategy
After 10/18/2004 and before the exam on 11/30/2004, I did 3 practice ARCO CAT exams on a CD, and 4 practice Princeton Review CAT exams online.

I found that towards the end of my GMAT preparation, I was finishing the verbal sections of the tests with between 4 and 20 minutes left and either just finishing the math section or finishing with 1.5 minutes left. After looking at my weak areas on the Princeton Review results, I realized that the strengthen, weaken, except, type questions were my worst, so I decided to slow down on them on the test. On test day, I slowed down on verbal, so much so that I just finished the test. I found that ignoring the clock on the math part helped me finish because I wasn’t wasting time calculating how much time I had left. On the verbal section, I spent 45 minutes on the first 20 questions and then had 30 minutes for the last 21 questions.
I took the last practice GMAT on Sunday night and took the test on Tuesday. I didn’t do anything related to business school or the GMAT on Monday and took the night off before the exam. I got 8 hours of sleep and then slept another 45 minutes on the train to NYC. I walked 25 minutes to the test center and arrived 45 minutes early. (8:45 for a 9:30 test)
